SINGER - PIANIST - TEACHER OF MUSIC
FROM HER FAVORITE SUBJECT TO HER CAREER:
“Music has always been my forte at school - It helped me to express myself in bringing out my creative side. My aim was always to turn music into my career”
At a young age Ylenia started to participate in various national musical events such as the Junior Eurosong were she sang her own composed songs (Placing 4th in 2008, 2nd place in 2009 and 3rd place in 2010) and the Malta Eurovision. She was also a participant on the Local television singing competition ‘Don’t Stop Me Now!’ and she WON the season. Ylenia has been awarded the Promotion of Young Talent Award at the University of Malta, Awards Evening in 2012 and won the New Upcoming Artist Award, at the Malta Music Awards (MMAs) in 2013.
Her passion for singing led her to take music seriously and to dedicate herself to making it her career.
She took up an undergraduate course in Music at the University of Malta. After successfully graduating with a BA (Hons) in Music (2015) she read for a post-graduate course in education (PGCE in Music, 2016), which enabled her to pursue a career teaching music as a qualified teacher.
Ylenia is currently a Secondary College Music teacher, were she leads a choir and directs all music activities organised by the school. Apart from teaching, she also work as a Freelance singer for various occasions such as Weddings, offering a wide range of musical entertainment as a Soloist, in Duo, Trio and together with a Band, entertainment in 5-star Hotels, musical servies for Funerals and Memorial Ceremonies and other Corporate Events. Ylenia also loves to volunteer by singing in fundraising events. In September 2014, she performed at the President’s famous Community Chest Fund Event, the Rockestra.

From a very young age, Ylenia used to animate the Sunday mass of her parish church. since then, her love for Church Music grew, expanding her repertoire while learning and gaining experience on how to adapt her style to every type of Mass Celebration – Be it the joy of a Wedding, Baptism or Anniversary Mass, or the sentimental, uplifting ambience of a Funeral – making the last goodbye as beautiful and peaceful as possible!
